70's Takeover: Miss Pap
'Mustard daydream enshrined in a valley of green, the soft stomp of autumn leaves rustling underfoot. Sweet nature protect me from the predators at large, vengeful beasts at the nape of my neck. Call of the wild, primordial hunger, feast upon the flesh of ressurected humanity. Shards of grass sharp like knives the taste of bittersweet love upon my lips. Drowning in vanity, split selves mirrored in alternate universes. Split into two the danger is heightened, flame upon flame the consequences are inevitable'
Holding onto its crown for another year the daring 70's remains the most popular trend this season. Assertive and bold the 70's challenged fashion boundaries and created a satorial legacy that would continue to dominate decade after decade. With its dramatic emphasis on androgynous tailoring that effortlessly fused the stereotypical assertion of masculinity with the delicate handiwork of feminine strength, the 70's spawned a generation of free-thinking individuals. Until the 70's fashion was firmly split into gender roles: the 50's saw women in flirty midi skirts while men embraced the earlier form of a power suit. The 1970's saw gender as fluid and biological labels were not questioned when it came to their interpretation of fashion. Fashion rejected the stereotypical playful proclamation of femininity replacing it with an edgy appreciation of the genderless form. Asymetrical outerwear juxtaposed against large flares could be worn by both men and women and was enhanced by gender neutral hues of khaki and mustard. A focus on challenging your own perception of identity has transcended into the modern day and is partly why we are drawn to the 70's era. The ability to challenge social perception of gender segregation is an ethos that Miss Pap is desperate to adopt.
This fall Miss Pap have combined directional intelligence with the ability to track trends, creating a modern 70's collection with a twist. Colours are richer, prints are bolder and all 70's elements are exaggerated reflective of modern normcore dressing. Shirt dresses and lace-up boots make up the core of the edgy collection inspired by agressive gender fluid lines.
