Thursday's Wishlist: Miss Pap & Zara
'Abstract art mirroring modernism, dribbling paint in a haberdashery of ecstacy,
Let your body become a blank canvas, a projection of geometric insanity,
Sharp feathered lines run parallel to a jagged knifes edge, the smell of triangular fear anointing your heart shaped lips, throbbing icicles crushed into segments, the symbol of artistic deprivation,
When a circle meets a rectangle malformation occurs, twisted bodies defying gravity, malformed beyond redemption'
Welcome to a weekly series of this weeks hottest trends straight from the lens of Faded Spring, whose expertise and eye for fashion has landed her status as a bona fide fashionista. This week I take a glimpse into my new favourite store Miss Pap whose directional ethos allows them to transcend fashion boundaries whereas firm favourite Zara continues to dominate wardrobes worldwide.
Miss Pap
Last week I fell in love with Miss Pap's ' 70's inspired range' and this week I have been on the look out for tailored pieces that you can style for 'work' and 'play'. Challenging the the perception that 'work-wear' is boring Miss Pap has designed a fashion forward collection that goes through a process of metamorphosis; by day a tailored blazer with minimal accessories makes an outfit work appropriate but by night a statement necklace and heels can make any OOTD ready for a night on a town. The transformative appeal of the collection is the epitome of directionalism and rich berry hues will buy into the 70's fever currently gripping the nation.
Having a busy schedule can mean that work wear attire has been reputed as 'stale' and boring but not any more. Thanks to Miss Pap tailored seperates have been updated for fall and come in key hues of 'berry' 'khaki' and 'camel' this seasons stand out shades.
The Abstract Shirt Dress
Priced at £25 the 'Zara' lookalike will give all high end designers a run for its money. Drawing inspiration from modernism and its appreciation for abstract art, the geometric cobalt shirt dress is a guaranteed trend setter. For a work appropriate look channel Oliva Palemero's signature aesthetic and layer the shirt dress underneath a tailored blazer, fedora and leather trousers for an edgy but sophisticated look. To transcend into night add fringed cobalt earrings, a clashing printed purse and knee high heels.
From Day...
This season workwear is monochrome with a splash of autumnal fun, think burgundy juxtaposed against a striped long sleeved shirt dress with functional button detailing. Tailoring is the key to creating a work ready aesthetic but do add fun elements such as hats and bold bags.
To Night...
By night the shirt dress focuses on print clashing to add a more fun element to the tailored look. Key directional bangles and mismatched lace-ups are guranteed to get the party started. Cat eye sunglasses keep the look chic and feeds into the monochrome aesthetic.
The Mixi Blouse
A cross between a 'maxi' and a 'midi' the mixi's odd hybrid length plays with new proportions that can go from night to day with a few subtle changes. What better way to introduce a mixi into your wardrobe than in this seasons most coveted colour 'burgundy'? The key to this look is to keep it casual but stylish; forget about layering, the mixi is best worn on its own for full impact.
From Day...
Pair your mixi with ripped jeans and leather thigh boots for a new approach to work-wear fashion. Casual and fun the 'day mixi' combines 70's eccentricity with the modern California chic to create a modern look that is easy to replicate. No fuss the outfit's clever add ons are what makes the day mixi pop.
To Night....
By night the 'mixi' becomes smart, with smart tailored finishes to give party wear a new vibe- 70's elegance. The 70's is known for its love of mustard and orange but this modern OOTD is streamlined, perfect for the lady about town.
The Denim Mini
Popular in the 90's the mini is back and more mature than its predecessor with a central button finish and sex appeal that was missing from its heyday. Think denim is just for children? Then think again as Faded Spring is here to show you how it is done!
From Day...
Colourblock your way to perfection with this burgundy and mustard combination. Injecting colour into your work wardrobe will make you happier and ready to take the world in your stride. Who says the office has to be boring?
To Night...
By night the demin mini plays with textures to give it a more classy yet experimental approach to channelling your inner 90's diva. The suede crop layered underneath a leather crop jacket will make the outfit seem infinitely more expensive than it is and will add a luxurious vibe to your casual yet fun party look.
The Mustard Coat
With mustard comes the assumption that it will only suit 'certain skin tones' or that it is a colour that only the brave can rock. Well fear no more as I am about to put those myths to bed and declare mustard as an emerging superstar.
From Day...
The mustard coat should be worn with burgundy or red accessories to create the 'Paddington Bear' effect, injecting sunshine into the chilly frost of A/W. Don't be afraid to experiment with clashing colours and/or prints to set yourself apart from the severely tailored mavens at work.
To Night...
There is nothing like a leather dress to add sex appeal to your 'mustard coat' and the niche art canvas bag and mules will create a unique night look. Go big or go home!
Zara
Home to the worlds best collection of shoes, Zara is high end high street at it's finest. Imitating designer brands, Zara always has its eyes two seasons ahead to ensure you stay ahead of the fashion pack.
The Faux Leather Dress
Edgy and unafraid to get dirty the faux leather dress is both fashion conscious and suited to the woman who lives life on the edge. This season may be about the 70's and suede but next season leather will continue to dominate catwalks once more.
From Day...
Look no further than The Devil Wears Prada for an office appropriate look that will get pulses racing.
To Night...
The Pussybow Blouse
Synonomous with the iconic image of a 70's diva the pussybow blouse is reserved but flirty making it the ideal accompaniment for any ocassion. Wear in bright or autumnal shades for maximal impact.
