Feel Alive With Teami Energy
Since I was seventeen I have been suffering with acute insomnia which left me feeling physically and emotionally drained and it was a struggle to get through each day. With an average of four hours sleep each night and a hectic lifestyle I would battle through severe brain fog and chronic pain to hoist myself out of bed. Many of us take sleep for granted but for us insomniacs or poor sleepers it greatly affects our quality of life. For parents being unable to sleep means long days and nights struggling to stay energized and looking after children, teens or worrying about their adult sons and daughters and for insomniacs like me it can make the mornings physically painful. You see I have chronic back and muscle pain, especially in my shoulders, neck, upper back and deltoid and this is largely connected to the fact I am 'unable to rest enough'. When you are not rested it takes a physical toll on your body and because there is knotted masses of trapped pain in my back and shoulders it means that my nervous system is becoming dysfunctional. Essentially there is not enough oxgyen passing through into the brain leaving me with pain and 'brain fog'. I will have days where the brain fog is so severe I can experience temporary memory loss and forget all my plans for that day and then there will be others when I feel nauseous, light headed and unable to speak without slurring. Usually these episodes are short lived but I spend my days feeling drained and it can affect my state of mind. I have tried sleeping tablets, herbal remedies and hot baths but nothing has worked. Like all isominaics there is a reason why I can't sleep and that is because I am a 'worrier'; I am quite anxious and get stressed easily but to the naked eye I always seem 'calm' and collected because my panic attacks often happen at night. Instead of dreaming about unicorns and candyfloss I spend my nights doing work, watching shows and when I do sleep I often have disturbing nightmares.
I had tried so many remedies that I was left feeling more exhausted than ever but there was a solution I had never contemplated before and that was tea. I love both herbal and black tea (decaf, two sugars and very milky) but the short bursts of energy leave me feeling deflated after the 'sugar slump' reaction. Meet Teami Blends, the innovator of loose leaf teas specially designed to target issues like insomnia, muscle pain, sickness, brain fog and those who crave a healthier lifestyle. Their teas have amassed a cult following and it is easy to see why. Rich in antioxidants and infused with multi-vitamins each tea's unique blend of ingredients will be targeted towards a specific 'problem issue'. At first I was a little skeptical believing that 'help teas' were purely to lose weight and naturally I want to put on not lose weight because I am naturally petite. I was assured that Teami Energy, Teami Alive and Teami Sleep did not make you lose weight but instead rid your body of toxins, helped re-energize and revitalize your digestive system and give you the energy you need to get through your day. It was a toss up between Teami Alive and Teami Energy but eventually I chose Teami Energy. Using six plant based ingredients that are rich in Vitamins A, B complex, C, D, E , Potassium and Magnesium, Teami Energy is stated to enhance productivity , increase concentration and improves mental alertness, all factors that insomnia make a struggle to have.
Complete with a green tumbler and strainer, Teami Energy uses Oslong tea, Yerba mate, goji berries, rhodia rosea, lemon grass, peppermint leaf tea and ginseng creating a loose leaf tea mixture that bears comparison to muesli. After boiling the water and placing a few spoonfuls of the tea mixture into a cup, I left it to soak in the boiled water for six minutes to retain the flavour and ensure I would reap the benefits of Teami Energy. After leaving it to soak I placed it in the strainer before trying Teami Energy for the first time. It was very bitter and the taste left me reeling at first, especially since it reminded me of Green Tea which I am not a big fan of. I decided to add a few sugars to sweeten the taste but it was still quite bitter but that is most likely because I am used to fruitier, more sweet based teas. It took me a while to get through the tea because I was struggling to get accustomed to the taste but I persevered because I wanted to test whether it would make me feel more productive and energized. Because I added the sugar I had a sugar slump which left me feeling more tired and did not increase my productivity levels. I decided to leave it a few days and began by drinking normal herbal teas without sugar to prepare me for Teami Energy and curb my reliance on sugar to flavour hot drinks.
On the second taste I found the Teami Energy a little easier to drink and by the fifth day I was accustomed to its bitter taste and began reaping the benefits of the drink. While the boosts of energy were short, I was not left feeling 'sluggish' and struggling to get through each day and found that my concentration had sharpened; I was able to focus on tasks I would find boring before like cleaning and organization. Having chronic pain can make it difficult to feel full of energy but despite the pain I was able to work for longer periods of time and taking my Teami Energy to work was the best move I had ever made. I worked a 12 hour shift on Monday and walked to and from work ( which was an hours walk) because I had no money and the only thing that kept me going was Teami's Energy tea, nestled in my bag like a trove of sweets. I am not going to lie, it is definitely not the best tea I have ever tasted and even now on my first sip I will recoil at the taste but I was taught from a young age that anything that tastes good is usually bad for you whereas the less palatable has proven benefits. In my eyes medicine is designed to make you feel better and I look at Teami Energy the same way, once you get past the taste Teami really does make you feel more energized.
