Pineapple Fever:Zaful
I cling onto summer like a bird clings onto its chicks, wafting myself with tropical scents and deluding myself into thinking that the brisk foray of autumnal or winter wind is really just a disguise for cool beach like breezes, where palm trees sway and the children laugh in play. In this fantasy world there is no need to envelop yourself in layer after layer nor is your feet swathed in boots with the [faux] fur. Instead like a 'Midnight Summer Nights' dream there are the players and there are the audience but the question is which one am I? I am both the player and the spectator fawning over summers special delights but creating my own summer fantasy which largely consists of colourful cactus's, flamingos, mojitos and of course the Goddess of them all, the loud and proud pineapple, Because lets face it, we may be in the throes of autumnal passion here in good ol' England but we are still desperately trying to kid ourselves into thinking that we don't need to wear coats or swathe ourselves in mountainous layers. Yet I love autumn, in fact it is my favourite season because of well pumpkins, pumpkin spice lattes (decaf of course), great television and autumn fashion/colours. But despite my love affair with autumn I am not quite ready to let go of summer just yet and luckily Zaful had just the tropical getaway ticket that I needed; Viva La Pineapple Fever!
There is something so ridiculously garish about pineapples, a tackiness if you will that it becomes the ultimate fun concoction, print and scent. It is the very definition of 80's Euro-trash and reminds me of summers caravanning at white sand beaches, sipping on my tropical juice, the waft of sweet pineapple juice permeating the air. I may not have loved caravanning but I did love the fruit that came with it, largely scoffing hordes of pineapples to get me in the summer mood. So what better motif of choice than the humble pineapple to keep the summer gal in me happy, even if the autumn gal would rather sip on soups and spice lattes to ward off the winter chill? Queue the dress that pineapples are made of; deliciously fruity, fantastically light and a feast for summer eyes, this dress has no limitations, nor does it need them. Pineapples are what I like to dub the 'symbol of hospitality' and it is their striking resemblance to the palm leaf and tropical floral print trend that keeps pineapple fever alive and kicking. But there is more to pineapples than just being a fruit, a scent or print. Pineapples are welcoming and fun and like all summer flings is temporary. My fellow Britons may have welcomed the flurry of pumpkin, burgundy and velvet that has been swimming their way but I still have my eye on the pineapple crown to reclaim my title as Queen of The Summer, hoping that I will have one last chance to bask in summers adoring glow.
Of course I realize that the nights are getting longer and the days are getting shorter but after working my butt off all summer I realized that I never got a chance to say goodbye to summers lingering rays, never got the chance to top up my dodgy tan lines or sit on a deckchair by the beach in my hot summer dress. So I decided to have one last hurrah and thanks to Zaful my pineapple crown was reclaimed, the mermaids cheered and I was poised upon my imaginary throne of pineapples, diced and sliced waving before the adoring crowd of fellow pineapple fans.
Do You Refuse To Let Go Of Summer ?
